Gunmen shoot five worshippers to death and kidnap about 18 others
Nigerian police on Sunday affirmed that five worshippers were killed and 18 others kidnapped when shooters assaulted a congregational mosque in the nation's northwestern province of Zamfara.
The episode happened on Friday in the Dutsen Gari people group of Maru neighborhood government region in Zamfara, police representative, Muhammad Shehu, told Xinhua.
An Imam of the mosque was among those grabbed by the shooters, who masked as gatherers and later shot at the admirers, murdering two immediately.
Three others kicked the bucket while getting treatment at the medical clinic, Shehu said.
Witnesses disclosed to Xinhua that the shooters rode into the network on motorbikes, however masked as visitor admirers.
They fled through a close by shrubbery after the assault. The police had quickly conveyed more agents to the region, looking for the escaping shooters, Shehu told Xinhua.
Banditry, hijacking, and other crimes have as of late become widespread in Nigeria's northwest district.
