Thomas Partey schools Man United’s €259m midfield as Arsenal record first league win at Old Trafford in over 14 years
Ghanaian midfield Thomas Partey was exceptional as Arsenal defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
The Gunners came into the game at the back of two defeats in the league, losing 1-0 to both Manchester City and Leicester City.
Thomas Partey, who has so far been magnificent since joining the North London outfit on deadline day from Atletico Madrid for €50 million was handed a start.
Arsenal controlled the entire first half, but failed to create any big opportunity, the best chance of the half fell to Willian who smashed the cross bar from the edge of the box.
The game continued from where it left off in the second half, both teams failed to create any big opportunity.
The biggest call of the game came in the 69th minute when Bellerin was tripped in the United 18-yard box by Paul Pogba. Skipper Aubameyang stepped up and converted the resulting penalty.
Man United from then pushed men forward for the equalizing goal, but to no avail. The game ended 1-0, Arsenal record their first league victory at Old Trafford in over 14 years.
Thomas Partey was class throughout the game and was described as Patrick Vieira’s successor by United legend Roy Keane.
The 27-year-old has been handed a call-up by Black Stars manager CK Akonnor for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
