Ben Ephson claims NDC will not lead in parliament

Mr. Benjamin Emmanuel Ephson, Pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, has said that claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win more parliamentary seats are not valid.

NDC will not lead in Parliament from the available information, unless there is other information that I have no knowledge of said Mr. Ben Ephson."

His declaration comes after the NDC claimed to have secured a majority seat in Parliament in a series of press conferences.

“We thank the Ghanaian people for the confidence they’ve expressed in us. It’s clear the Ghanaian people want a change in this country. Ghanaians are tired of this Akufo Addo’s government. You thank you for giving us the majority in parliament 140 seats in Parliament and no attempt should be made to subvert the will of the people”, Former President and flag bearer of the NDC Mr. Mahama warned.

But Mr. Ephson, however, admitted in his interview that "it could be that there is some information that the NDC has that I may be ignorant of." But the data I have shows that, in 2016, they lost 34 seats and that one gained 38. The NPP has taken about 10 NDC seats, so I may not be sure of the basis on which they are speaking.

Meanwhile, in a pre-election poll, Ben Ephson declared that President Akufo-Addo would win with 52.6 percent and NDC leader John Mahama would be second with 45.7 percent.
