CAF Championship: Asante Kotoko suffers 1-0 defeat to Al Hilal Omdurman
In the second round of the first leg of the CAF Champions League, Asante Kotoko's unimpressive performance saw the team suffer a 1-0 loss to Al Hilal Omdurman. As they dominated play in the first few minutes, the visitors had a bright start to the first half. The Sudanese club started to rise in confidence as the host struggled to settle, and came close to scoring in the first ten minutes.
In the end, fortunately, Asante Kotoko remained in the game at the end of the first half and in the second half with a chance to get stronger.
Unfortunately, they just didn't have the firepower to outplay Al Hilal for the Ghanaian giants. In the second half, the away team managed to exert their dominance, attacking almost every five minutes.
Al Hilal finally had the breakthrough in the 77th minute after a sequence of attacking plays, when Vinny Bongonga scored from close range after Mohammed Quatarra assisted him.
Asante Kotoko has a tough job ahead of the reverse fixture that will be played in Sudan, because of today's loss.
