"Collate and re-collate Techiman South before swearing of the president" - Haruna Iddrisu
Parliament Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu says they will not create a consensus with the New Patriotic Party until there is a re-collection of results at Techiman South (NPP).
As the NPP and the NDC have 137 seats with one independent seat, Parliament is currently in balance.
The NDC did not agree with the results after the EC declared the NPP as winners of the Techiman South seat, and called for a re-collation.
Haruna Iddrisu argues that their appeal must be heard to ensure that in the 8th parliament there is peace.
"How come there can be re-collation in Sene West and there can't be one in Techiman South. Even if you are urging the NDC to go to court, they should go and question what? Collate and re-collate Techiman South before swearing of the President, without this we the NDC will advise ourselves, the NPP know they lost the seat but are fighting for it"
The EC has confirmed that the contested results of the parliamentary elections held on 7 December 2020 in the Techiman South Constituency in Bono East can only be decided in court.
When he obtained 49,682, the EC declared Mr Korsah of the NPP as the winner of the election, as opposed to the 49,205 obtained by the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Christopher Baasongti Beyere.
The NDC maintains that the findings of the Techiman South Returning Officer have not been officially announced.
But the NPP has debunked the allegation and released a video in which the returning officer, in the midst of chaos at the place where the collation was performed, is seen announcing the results.
A melee that followed during the collection of the findings resulted in the death of two people who were struck by stray bullets.
