Mohammed Kudus to miss out of match against Willem II Tilburg

Ghanaian midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, is not going to take action on Wednesday for Ajax Amsterdam in his Netherlands Eredivisie match against Willem II Tilburg.

After a two-month lay-off injury, the 20-year-old began training earlier this month with club boss Erik 10 Hag hinting about possible summer signature participation in the midweek.

However, the Lancers had a rethink of the plans, which dispatched every idea of deploying the Ghanaian in view of its long-term consequences.

“He does not feel 100 per cent yet. That is why we have decided not to take any risks with him," Ten Hag is quoted as saying by AD on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's tie.

In July, after impressing for Danish Nordsjaelland, Kudus joined Ajax in a five-year agreement that was estimated to have been worth 9 million euros.

At his debut in the Champions League, against Liverpool, Ghanaians had a night to forget because after just six minutes he had been forced off the pitch, after taking a meniscus injury after confronting Liverpool's Fabinho.

“Maybe Kudus, but we’ll see in the next few days how it goes," Ten Hag had said in responding to a question about whether he expected any of Ajax's injury returnees to feature against Willem on Wednesday. The manager was speaking after his club beat ADO Den Haag in Eredivisie action on Sunday.

The young man has only made four competitive appearances for Ajax, helping him score three goals in all competitions. In a 5-1 win over Heerenveen in the Dutch league in October, he scored his only goal for the group.

His injury has also been felt internationally as Ghana had to do without its new kid in their last four matches.

In October the Diplomas from Right to Dream Academy, who scored at his international debut, missed the double header of the Black Stars' friendship against Mali and the hosts of the 2022 World Cup and Asian Qatar champions.

The Black Stars took over Sudan at back-to-back games in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers and a month later, it was again missing.

Ghana lost two of their four matches and won two of them.
