Nana Addo leaves for Ivory Coast, Guinea and UK
President Akufo-Addo will leave the country for the Ivory Coast and Guinea today, December 14, 2020, to attend President Alassane Ouattara and President Alpha Condé's inaugural ceremonies in their respective countries.
He will continue his journey from Africa to London before returning to Ghana.
According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Media, this is for the inauguration of @AOuattara PRCI as President, President @NAkufoAddo will be in Abidjan tomorrow. On Tuesday, he will be in Guinea for President Conde's inauguration. Before returning to Accra, he will then continue to London,” the minister tweeted on Sunday.
No justification was allocated for the visit of the President to the United Kingdom.
Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast and President Alpha Condé of Guinea both secured their re-election in spite of legal challenges to their victories.
Although Mr. Ouattara is to be sworn in on December 14, on December 15, 2020, Condé will be sworn in.
Ouattara won 94.2% of the votes cast, while Condé, his counterpart, received 59.49% of the votes during the elections held in October.
