NDC wins Savelugu seat - EC declares
The Northern Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission EC has declared Abdul Jacob Iddrisu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be the winner of the parliamentary elections in the Savelugu constituency.
The NDC candidate had 19,577 votes, while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Muhammed Abdul-Samed Gunu had 19,478.
The Savelugu Parliamentary Statement of Results was previously suspended due to a dispute between the NDC and the NPP over the suspected over-voting at the polling station in the electoral district.
While the NDC endorsed the pink electoral results document, the NPP declined to support the results, claiming that they were not reliable.
Meanwhile the information obtained from the NPP camp suggests that the group is going to file a suit with the court to resolve the differences.
This takes the NDC seats in Parliament to 136, with the results of two more electoral districts pending.
Sene West and Techiman South are still pending seats.
