Police motorist with Nima Division crashed to death
A police motorist with the Nima Division in Accra, Sargent Justice Appiah Kubi, crashed to death around the Hajj Village bypass after having been involved in a fatal collision.
According to eyewitnesses who were servicemen, a military officer identified as one Sergeant Asiedu from Burma Camp told them that his brother, who was in charge of the Hyundai Santefe DV-5670-20, had been involved in an accident involving a Ford Ranger with registration number GV 1342-14 and called for a towing truck to take the vehicle to Dzorwulu.
The military officer, said to have parked his Toyota pick-up in the inner lane lifted his hand and waved the police rider.
In response, the rider turned to watch the officer at the scene, but sadly, he crashed into a Toyota Hilux pick-up parked in the inner lane near the scene of the accident by the military officer in question.
After the first impact, the rider managed to veer off and crashed back into the open drainage of the outer lane.
He suffered severe injuries, and as the two policemen were dragging the police rider out of the gutter, the military officer drove his car away unseen.
The rider rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment, but the medical officer, who was in charge of examining him, pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The body of the deceased rider was moved to the Police Hospital for preservation and waiting for autopsy while attempts are being made to track down the Military Officer-involved to assist the Police in the investigation.
