Bruised Porcupine Warriors devour Scientific soccer lads

Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated Liberty Professionals 2-0 to climb up to 6th position on the Premier league table.
Interim manager Johnson Smith made a number of changes, Brazilian import Fabio Gama was handed his first start since joining in October.
The Porcupine Warriors started the game the better side and nearly took the lead in the 2nd minute, Christopher Nettey pounced of a flick from Kwame Poku after a long ball by goalkeeper Razak Abalora, Netty lobbed the goalkeeper but his effort went wide.
Kotoko continued to mount pressure on Liberty Professionals and game close on a number of occasions before breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute, Kwame Poku’s powerful drive in the 18 yard box deflected off a defender and went pass the goalkeeper.
The Porcupine Warriors doubled their lead in the 19th minute, Kwame Poku received a good pass from Fabio Gama, made his way into the 18 yard box and lobbed the goalkeeper.
The remaining minutes of the first was evenly contested and saw no goals.
Liberty Professionals commenced the second half the better side and started to ask the Kotoko defense questions, but the Asante Kotoko defense were always there to provide the answers.
Kotoko should have killed the game in the 72nd minute, a powerful header from Fabio Gama was smartly kept out by goalkeeper Kofi Baah.
The Scientific Soccer lads continued to control the game and came close to getting the face saving goal in the 76th minute, a powerful drive by Godfred Atuahene from outside the 18 yard box was splendidly saved by Razak Abalora.
The referee after 3 minutes of additional time brought proceedings to an end. Kotoko pick their 3rd win of the season and now sit 6th on the league table. Kwame Poku was named man of the match.
Kotoko’s next game will be against WAFA in Sogakope, whiles Liberty Professionals will host Ebusua Dwarfs in Dansoman.
