Buhari hasn't done anything - diaspora Nigerians criticize Govt
President Muhammadu Buhari |
President Muhammadu Buhari has been in office for more than five years and many problems have troubled the nation during his presidency, leading to the loss of lives and property.
During his swearing-in ceremony, the president vowed to reduce corruption, tackle security issues, and, among others, revive the economy.
Nigerians, however, have expressed their disappointment with his government, claiming they have failed to live up to standards.
MyNigeria TV took to the streets of the capital of Ghana, Accra, to find out from the Nigerians what they were doing about the reign of President Buhari and his aspirations, three years before the end of his term.
Some Nigerians condemned his government for condoning the slaughter of innocent civilians.
Nigeria was identified as a terrorist country by a man angered by the recent killings in the country, with the president having done little since his arrival.
"It doesn't do Buhari well. He hasn't done anything since Buhari came to power. He was just trying to get terrorists to murder people everywhere. We have ISIS, ISWAP, Fulani Herdsmen, and Miyetti Allah in Nigeria.'
"Nigeria's innocent people have no peace of mind. Nigeria is a place of extremism. The nation is run by a bad government. That's why all the people of the planet are scattered. I'm angry with myself, I'm really angry. It's too many to kill. You see, Nigeria was saturated with citizens' blood,' he said.
Another Nigerian said that because of the abuse, many people left the country, but hopes things will change for the better to encourage Nigerians to return home to their families.
However, in creating peace and harmony among people, he called on the government to imitate other nations.
"The people here are scared to go back to Nigeria because of the rumors they’ve heard about the country. So, what I will want my country to change from is violence. We need peace in our country. I want to hear Nigeria been like other countries, like how Ghana is peaceful. Nigeria should also emulate such attributes."
The high cost of buying food was lamented by a food vendor at a popular electronic market in Accra.
As he is there, we are not happy because we do not see what Buhari does for people. If it's an imposter or a true person, we don't know. Things have been so costly lately that we can't afford to purchase something. He needs to step down.'
"She added, "It is not the remaining two years he has left that he will use to develop Nigeria.
