Death sentence on "blasphemous" Kano singer set aside by court
Amin Yahaya |
The Kano State High Court's appeal division has set aside the death sentence levied on Kano singer Aminu Yahaya Sharif for blasphemy.
The court ordered the case against Sharif, who had brought an appeal to contest the sentence, to be retried.
The judgment was delivered by State Chief Judge Nuraddeen Sagir on Thursday on the ground that irregularities characterized the proceedings of the lower court.
Sagir also ordered that full legal representation should be given to Sharif and that the case should be heard before a different judge, punchng reported
