Hearts of Oak started the game on the front foot and nearly took the lead in the 3rd minute, a powerful volley from skipper Fatawu Mohammed struck the post.
Elmina Sharks gradually found their rhythm and took the lead in the 21st minute, James Bissue beat the Hearts of Oak defense and calmly beat the goalkeeper.

Elmina Sharks were reduced to 10 men in the 76th minute, Benjamin Arthur was shown a second yellow for a nasty tackle.
Despite being a man down, Elmina Sharks mounted pressure on the Phobians and came close through Mohammed Issaka and Alhaji Mustafa.
