Madina MP bemoans abandoned health facility in Madina
The Member of Parliament, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu has expressed concern over the abandoned health facility at Madina Polyclinic {Kekele} and has said it is a sign of failure of effective health delivery in the constituency.
According to him, the government had shown little interest in salvaging the image of the health sector as facilities that were constructed or for which construction had begun by the previous government had been left to rot.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Madina Constituency expressed this concern last Tuesday, April 27, 2021 when he visited the Madina Polyclinic {Kekele} with head of the Health Project, Dr. Maalug Yennusom and other members.
The MP together with his team donated Medical supplies like, Hospital pads, Bedsheets, Pill Bottles, Syringes, Scrubs and Physiotherapy equipment and others to help improve health delivery in the constituency.
He noted that the donation is an ongoing exercise to all the various health facilities within the constituency.
Briefing the media after the donation and touring the new health facility, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu said the government had not given the health sector the necessary attention it deserved. He stressed that the health facility is about 95% completed but is still not open for use.
The Honourable MP stressed that the abandoned structure which has stalled for years now has compelled staff of the hospital to work in containers which hinders effective health delivery.
He made a passionate call on the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Director-General of Health, Dr. Patrict Kuma Aboagye and other stakeholders to engage in talks with the government to open the new health facility.
Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu further promised the Kekele health workers that his outfit will engage with the government on the opening of the new facility.
