Feature: Just Hope

Feature: Just Hope

Few months ago, I read a post by friend admonishing us to never give up on hope. The friend explained that having hope is the least we can do for ourselves and considering the fact that it doesn’t cost us anything to have hope, we have no option than to be hopeful.

Things have been tough on both personal and professional level. I have fruits on the farm ready for market but there are a number of challenges. First, although I expected to start harvesting the fruits early this month, colouring delayed so we couldn’t harvest until the third week of the month. The delay costs us a lot because revenue from the harvest was expected to settle some pressing issues of the farm.

Secondly, we have some challenges with marketing and sales. Our main off taker, Mr Pine has been struggling operationally and financially. To make matters worse, the main depot of Mr Pine at Atomic Junction was vandalized by city authorities to make way for the clean Accra Project. So we have lost about half of our sales channel.

Last but not least, it has been raining heavily and continuously in very unpredictable manner. The consequences are many. The crops are falling because the ground is too soft to hold them. The farm is weedy but we are unable to apply weedicide due to fear of the raining washing it off. We are not harvesting according to schedule due to interruptions by the rain.

But we are hopeful. We are hopeful that things will improve and get better. We are hopeful that the rain will cause less destruction. We are hopeful that we shall regain our market share so we can generate more revenue.

What other option do we have but to just be HOPEFUL?
