Dreams FC 1 vs Kotoko 3: Kotoko leave it late as they open premier league campaign with a win



Kotoko left it late to clinch a 3-1 victory against Dreams FC in their opening game of the Ghana Premier League season at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Richmond Lamptey and Isaac Oppong scored debut goals to add to Mudasiru’s goal after Issahaku Fatawu had put the hosts in the lead with a brilliant solo effort.

The Porcupine Warriors look reinvigorated under new coach Nartey and started the brighter side in a keenly fought encounter in the opening stages of the game.

The home-side finally got into their strides as the half wore out but were unable to break down the Kotoko defense to leave the score 0-0 at the break.

Both set of players returned from the break pushing for the opening goal but it was the home-side that opened the scoring courtesy a brilliant goal from Fatawu Issahaku.

The promising forward picked the ball at the edge of the area and left the Kotoko defenders to the floor to score a Messi-esque goal.The travelling side appeared destined for a defeat as the game was approaching the final ten minutes.

Coach Nartey inspired substitution however made the difference as Isaac Oppong run the show after coming on in the dying embers of the game.

The diminutive winger picked the ball from midfield and slipped it into the path of Mudasiru to draw level for Kotoko.The winger then scored to spark euphoria among the fans as Kotoko strolled into the lead for the first time in the game

Lamptey then added the icing on the cake with a brilliant trademark goal from 25-yards out to score Kotoko’s third.It was a victory that demonstrated Nartey’s tactical masterclass and showed Kotoko’s ambition for the season.
