Land Combat Firepower Demonstration to equip Army protect the Country - GOC Brigadier General Ayisi
The General Officer Commanding, Southern Command, Ghana Arm Forces, Brigadier General Amoah Ayisi Michael has said that a Land Combat Firepower Demonstration is a major training event to prepare the Army to protect the territorial integrity of the country against external aggression.
According to him, the aim of the exercise is to enable students of the Senior Division of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College appreciate the utilization of fire assets available to a Battle Group as part of a Joint Task Force and how they are employed within the operational framework of deep, close and rear operation.
He stated, the Ghana Armed Forces
also has a secondary responsibility for the maintenance/restoration of the Internal Security of the country in support of the Ghana Police Service and Civil Authorities. The Ghana Army is therefore the lead Service in any land based operation towards the fulfilment of the constitutional mandate of the Ghana Armed Forces.
So it is in fulfilment of this national call that the Army trains and exercises vigorously in order to sharpen its skills and readiness.
Brigadier Ayisi Michael said the exercise simulate how a Battle Group operating as part of a joint task force employs its resources to block and repel an attack by a fictitious invading force with the support of the Navy and Air Force.
The Ghanaian Soldier is a well-trained professional soldier prepared to deal decisively to accomplish any task he may be assigned.
He has assured all and sundry that the Ghana Armed Forces is always ready to
deal with any threat to our dear country.
