Premier League debutants Accra Lions rescued a point in an entertaining opening game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Premier league new boys who are making their first appearance in the first tier of Ghana football thrilled fans with some amazing piece of football in the opening half-hour but failed to capitalize on the opportunities they created.
Sharks however warmed into the game and could have taken the lead but were kept at bay by the heroics of goalkeeper Appiah Kubi.
Both sides pushed for the opening goal but the game ended 0-0 in the first half.
Sharks returned from the break the stronger side and looked the likely side to take the lead.
The visitors seem to have benefited from the break and looked more composed as they pushed for the opening goal.
Sharks eventually scored the goal that their second half performance deserved following an error from goalkeeper Kubi.
The goalkeeper was found in the middle of nowhere as Michelle Sarpong pounced to score the opening goal of the new GPL Season.
Coach Odartey Lamptey’s side seem content to run the clock down as they enjoyed a chunk of the possession without threatening the hosts.
Another error by goalkeeper Joseph Essah clawed the home-side back into the game.
Salifu Rauf, the division one league top scorer reacted quickest to a loose ball after the visiting goalkeeper failed to handle a corner kick to continue where he left off in the division one league.
The game finished 1-1 to mark the opening season of the Ghana Premier League.
