LaNkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly embarks on demolition exercise at WASS

The LaNkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly has embarked on demolition exercise at the frontage of the West Africa Senior High School.

The planned demolition exercise kick off on Tuesday, 30th November 2021.

According to the Assembly, the frontage of West Africa Senior High School (WASS) is increasingly becoming a hub for all forms of nuisance to the educational institution and neighboring residents.

The Assembly has received requests and petitions from school authorities and residence to address the activities of scrap dealers and other unpermitted activities around the area.

Concerned residence and school authorities have mentioned failed attempts to rid the community of drug dealers and wee smokers and have accused authorities for allowing the area to gradually turn into a hide out for criminals.

Subsequently, a Municipal Security council report also cited the activities of encroachers as security threat.

Some residents who complained bitterly about encroachment under high tension power line, noted that such a development has the tendency to cause havoc, a situation, they added, can threaten the security of the area as well as the entire La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly.

Indeed activities of traders around and under both ECG substation and high tension respectively are only time bombs

The Municipal Chief Executive, LaNkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly, Mrs. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng said the focus of the demolition exercise is in line with the  #LetsMakeAccraWork agenda.

“ the LaNkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly will on Tuesday, 30th November, 2021 begin a sanitation exercise to create a safe and clean environment for our students especially” she indicated.

Mrs. Adjabeng stated that a Municipal Security council report has on several occasions sited the area as another security concern and subsequently adviced for immediate action.

She revealed that since July this year, the Assembly has engaged and served notices on encroachers  to voluntarily vacate the area in question to no avail.

“The onus lies on the Assembly to be proactive in its approach to issues concerning security” she said,

The Assembly seeks the support of all to make this exercise a smooth one.
