This is how much you will pay for MoMo transaction if E-levy is passed

One of the important issues the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is aiming to pass into law in the coming weeks is the controversial 1.75 percent Electronic Transfer Levy, sometimes known as E-levy.
According to the NPP, the e-levy will raise Ghana's tax-to-GDP ratio from 13% to a target of 16% or higher.

However, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) claims that the 1.75 percent tax will burden Ghanaians who are already overburdened. The minority has contended that the common Ghanaian is suffering greatly as a result of the NPP government's poor economic management.

A part of the public and experts have expressed their displeasure with the yet-to-be-approved fee.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, and other government officials indicated that the e-levy is aimed to provide for a higher level of life at a town hall meeting held in Koforidua on Thursday, January 27.

The administration went on to say that if the idea is implemented, the government will have enough money to invest in the country's growth.

President Akufo-Addo stated in a tweet on Thursday that the levy will allow the government to raise revenue to enhance the country's road infrastructure while also giving work chances for the country's growing number of unemployed youngsters. The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, and other government officials indicated that the e-levy is aimed to provide for a higher level of life at a town hall meeting held in Koforidua on Thursday, January 27.

The E-levy will provide government with revenue to build more roads, provide more jobs and opportunities for the youth and reduce our dependence on debt,” the tweet read. Pulse.com.gh
