Shatta Wale's sister pursued by police on fake shooting incident

The prosecutors in the case against dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, also known as Shatta Wale, and three others has stated that the police will "use other methods" within the law to arrest the artiste's sister.

The prosecution is looking for Shatta Wale's sister, who is believed to have reported the alleged fake gunshot to the East Legon Police to help with the investigation.

But after a gentleman’s agreement between the defense lawyers, the prosecution and the court for the defense to produce the said suspect, that agreement has been reneged on.

In court on Tuesday, Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, “there was a gentleman’s agreement between counsel, but they are not helping us, so we will use other means.” Prime News Ghana said.

Shatta Wale's lawyer, Jerry Avenorgbo, contended that the legal structure existed before the trial and that the prosecution could not change it.

He was perplexed as to why a person who gave police information should be considered as a suspect.

People who have information and wish to disclose it to the police will be afraid, according to counsel.

He encouraged the court to begin the trial as soon as possible, preferably within the next week.

“it is our case and he cannot determine how we should do our case.”

He added, “We were in your chambers (Judge) and we agreed on a gentleman agreement and they have failed to do what is right.”

Shatta Wale is accused of spreading incorrect information in the public arena, causing fear and terror.

Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Shatta Wale's personal assistant, Eric Vanetor, a graphic designer, and Iddrisu Yussif, a beautician, were also charged with aiding and abetting a criminal in the dissemination of fake news.

They've all pled not guilty and been sentenced to GHc100,000 in bail, with public servant sureties.
