JNePS launches Inter-Media House Sports and Health Festival
The Journalists Network for Peace and Security (JNePS) has outdoor the much anticipated Inter-Media House Sports and Health Festival at Accra.
One of the network’s mandates is to bring journalists, media houses, and organizations together to discuss policies and programs and suggest to government and industry players ways to ensure journalists and media organizations get the right environment to operate without any fear or abuse. As a result, the health festival, being the first of its kind was launched at the Bureau of Ghana Languages, Kanda on May 7th, 2022.
The festival seeks to bring media houses and journalists together on one platform where they can interact and network among themselves and discuss important issues that are affecting them in their line of work and as well, to have fun.
Speaking at the event was the founder and president of JNePS, Yakub Alfa Suleiman, who said “The main purpose of the festival is to look at how we will support journalists in terms of their welfare. So first of all we are looking into their welfare in terms of health, what can we do to support media houses and journalists as far as their health needs are concerned.”
He continued “This festival will look at bringing together health institutions and organizations that will support journalists to build their health and as well to guide them. Health is very key and very important as far as the welfare of the journalist and journalism is concerned is concerned”
Some health organizations such as Save the Nation’s Eye clinic, All Smiles Dental, Supreme Health Specialist Hospital, Dot Glasses, MyHealthCop and others are on board to support the course. Journalists and student journalists are to benefit from the services of these institutions.
The official revealing of the sports and health festival was carried out by Alhaji Rabiu Maude on behalf of Sarki Salisu Maude, Sarki Samari of Greater Accra.
The festival has been scheduled to take place on the 27th and 28th of May,2022 at the Madina Astroturf park.
Media organizations that have been balloted to face each other at the event are:
Daily Guide news Vs Happy FM – Match 1
Atinka Media Village Vs Class Media Group – Match 2
XYZ Vs GNA– Match 3
MAX TV Vs GBC – Match 4
Other media houses will also participate in various sporting disciplines such as basketball, volleyball, snooker, TV games, athletics, etc
Speakers included Genera Moore, country representative of Renaissance, Security analyst Adib Saani of Jayikay Centre for Security, Nii Ankonu Annorbah-Sarpei of KGL Foundation, and Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Community Mobilizer FixTheCountry.
The event was sponsored by Decathlon, Special Ice, Belaqua, Xtra by Reigans Perfumes, Africa Aura and Weekada.
