World Orphans Day and Rayuwa Foundation feast with orphans
World Orphans Day- Ghana in collaboration with Rayuwa Foundation has celebrated the Eid-ul-fitr with the Home of Taqwa Orphans.
The event which took place at Dodowa, Accra on May 3rd 2022 , marked the celebration of World Orphans Day, an initiative by the Worldwide Organization for Charity celebrated globally on April 20th each year.
This year, as the date coincided with the Ramadan fasting, World Orphans Day-Ghana extended the date so as to celebrate the fun filled day during the Eid celebrations with hashtags “Endhunger and SocialInjustice.
This year marked the third edition for Ghana since 2018 as 2020 and 2021 saw a break due to the COVID restrictions on large gatherings.
Items such as food, confectionery, stationery, toiletries and other groceries were presented to the orphanage as part of the celebration.
Executives of the foundation together with volunteers engaged the children at the orphanage in various games such as ‘Ampe’, Tag-of-Peace, ‘Pelle’, “Oware” and soccer.
There was a Quran and Hadith recitation session as well as a quiz on Seera (History) with the winners awarded.
Other partners who supported this year’s event are Famaaj impressions, APrint.com, Zongo Inspiration Team, Mihalia, Center for youth empowerment and humanitarian services, Enzo photography, Lima Sobo, Ink Ghana and Star creative life foundation.
“In order to achieve an ideal society and social justice, we all need to be our best to orphans by treating them right.” Hajia Asmau Ayub said.
