YEA to train and employ 6,000 insurance agents
The CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Kofi Agyepong, has underscored the importance of investing in the youth which he reckons remain the smartest move to secure the country’s future.
So in the bid to achieve this, the Agency in collaboration with National Insurance Commission (NIC) has launched “Training and Employment of Insurance Agents” which aims at providing insurance agents with intense training to equip them in their operations and later get them employed by various insurance firms in the country.
The training is expected to commence next Monday, May 8, 2023.
Speaking at the launch of the Training and Employment of over 6,000 Insurance Agents in Accra on Tuesday, he said “Investing in the youth today, is the smartest move to secure the country’s future. The YEA remains committed to providing the necessary platform that will lead to job creation and to equip the youth to become change agents.
In line with its mandate, the government through the YEA alone has created almost 25,000 direct jobs and over 60,000 indirect jobs in the last nine months. These are direct jobs backed by verifiable data.
“ We have the capacity to create more jobs and we will make it possible for the youth to enjoy a better Ghana.” he said.
Again he stated, “Today, we are here to launch what we may call “Youth in Insurance”. This project seeks to train and employ at least 6,000 youth to serve in various capacities with insurance companies across the country. This shows the government’s commitment to reducing unemployment among the youth in Ghana.
