Mohammed Salisu: Southampton and Monaco have reached an agreement on a £17 million move

The GhanaGuardian reported that the transfer of Ghanaian defender Salisu Mohammed from English Championship team Southampton to French Ligue 1 club Monaco has finally been agreed upon.

After initially rejecting both of Monaco's initial offers for the Ghanaian international, the Saints have now agreed to a £17 million agreement.

Despite Southampton being relegated from the Premier League last season, Salisu's impressive on-field performances have caught the interest of several European clubs.

But clubs like Aston Villa and Fulham have expressed interest in him because of his ability on the field. He has ultimately decided to play for Monaco, a French team.

Salisu made an impression after moving to Southampton from Real Valladolid in the Spanish La Liga in 2020. He participated in 21 games for Southampton's struggling English Premier League team.

Notably, he has a victory percentage of 2.5 in aerial duels, an amazing average of 5.4 clearances per game, and an average tackle rate of 2.3.
Salisu Mohammed also played a significant role for Ghana's Black Stars team at the Qatar-hosted FIFA World Cup in 2022.
Southampton will say goodbye to a talented defender when the move is completed, while Monaco adds a valuable player to their roster.
The supporters of both teams will be interested to see how Salisu's career develops in the fiercely competitive French Ligue 1.
