Partey too important to sell - Edu Gasper
Italian giants Juventus have now abandoned their pursuit of Arsenal star Thomas Partey, as they have deemed him too expensive given his age.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who have reported that Juventus are considering younger options such as Khephren Thuram instead of the 30-year-old.
Partey was linked with Juventus earlier in the window, and given that he has two years left on his deal, it was mooted that Arsenal could cash in whilst his value was high. However, he now looks set to stay, with Max Allegri’s side no longer considering a big money move for him.
The Ghanaian started in Arsenal’s Community Shield tie with Manchester City, and was impressive at the base of midfield alongside Declan Rice, playing the entire match.
The midfielder was one of Arsenal’s best players for the majority of last season, but a dip in form towards the end of the season saw him lose his place to Jorginho.
He looked back to his best in the Community Shield, and he looks set to start in Arsenal’s season opener against Nottingham Forest, with Rice playing as a more advanced option.
There will have been a lot of surprise if Arsenal cashed in on him now, having also lost Granit Xhaka earlier in the window, and now that there seems to be no interest in a huge money deal for him, he looks almost certain to remain at the club. Sporting director, Edu Gasper said the midfield dynamo "Partey too important to sell".
Partey joined from Atletico Madrid in 2020, but suffered from regular injury problems since. Despite this, he has established himself as one of Arsenal’s best, and most important players, with Mikel Arteta’s side aiming to challenge for the title.
