Swiss-Ghanaian company Koa launches new food processing plant at Akim Achiase
A Swiss-Ghanaian
licensed Free Zone Enterprise Company, Koa Impact Ghana Limited has launched
its second and biggest food processing plant in Akim Achiase in the Eastern
Region, following the opening of their first facility in Assin Akrofuom in the
Central Region.
As Koa Natural is produced from previously unused cocoa
fruit pulp, the juice processing provides an extra income to Ghana's cocoa
farmers due to the additional product created from the cocoa pod.
At the same time, Koa's processing facility creates
local jobs in Ghana's cocoa-growing regions, contributing to the economy and
responsible growth in cocoa-growing communities.
The Minister for Trade and Industry Hon. K.T Hammond
who was the special guest of honour indicated it is envisaged that the new
factory will increase production capacity by tenfold while generating 400 new
jobs in rural Ghana and allowing the extension of cocoa fruit upcycling to an
additional 10,000 cocoa farmers. He further entreated the management of Koa to
maintain their production quality and maintenance of the facility.
