FC Heidenheim wins their first game in the Bundesliga history against Werder

Eren Dinkci
The first Bundesliga victory in FC Heidenheim's history was achieved with goals from Tim Kleindienst (seventh), Eren Dinkci (44th, 68th), and Jan-Niklas Beste (76th), the promoted side triumphed 4:2 (2:0). For SV Werder Bremen, goals by Marvin Ducksch (49th) and Mitchell Weiser (64th) restored parity.

Frank Schmidt made two changes to 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 from the 2-2 draw with Dortmund: Marvin Pieringer and Jonas Föhrenbach replaced Adrian Beck and Denis Thomalla. But at SV Werder Bremen, there was just one modification: Marvin Ducksch, who had a minor injury, was replaced by Nick Woltemade in the SVW attack center, Bundesliga reported.

Jan-Niklas Beste launched a direct free kick into the wall in the fourth minute, but Anthony Jung deflected the ball with his hand and awarded a penalty. Stepping forward, Tim Kleindienst scored quickly in the bottom left corner in the fifth minute. Only five minutes later, Kleindienst narrowly missed a superb cross from Eren Dinkçi (10th) as the FCH really picked up their game.

Tim Kleindienst (20 points), Eren Dinkci (20), and Jan-Niklas Beste (19) are among the fantasy heroes.

Woltemade had Bremen's first chance when he slipped in the opposition's penalty area in the 21st minute. Shortly after, Ji Pavlenka advanced beyond Marvin Pieringer's cross (27th) before Kleindienst missed from a tight angle with his left. After Kleindienst's shot, it was the turn of ex-Bremer Dinkci. On the third spin of the pointer (30th), the attacker curled a ball with his left hand just past the left post. Bremen did not sufficiently narrow the room for FCH and provided too much space in the back.

also up front? The best opportunity was lost when Jens Stage (40th) glided into a flat cross and fired the ball over the goal from a distance of four meters. More ruthlessly, Heidenheim sent Dinkci deep on the right, failed to tackle him, and let him to enter the Bremen penalty area unimpeded. This time, his left-footed effort into the bottom right corner of the net (position 44).

At the interval, Ole Werner made three adjustments, including inserting Ducksch. He then began to act like a joker right away: There was also a hand penalty for Bremen as a result of Omar Traoré receiving the ball. Kevin Müller had already parried it (49'), but Ducksch only scored with a follow-up shot and a header.  Three minutes later, Bremen upped the ante and nearly added more when Romano Schmid's attempt from the left missed by a whisker (52').

Even though the visitors made more hits, FCH continued to pose a threat; a deflected Kleindienst attempt struck the outside left post at the 61-yard mark. The 2-2 result that this part of the game merited was secured by Mitchell Weiser's header: The free winger was connected to by substitute Olivier Deman on the edge of the goal box, where he nodded in (64'). Heidenheim was really roused by the second goal, which Beste scored in the 68th minute after picking up the tempo on the left and purposefully passing it into the center to Dinkci, who finished straight with the inside right, hitting the bottom right to make it 3-2.

The following opportunity was produced by Patrick Mainka, but Pavlenka expertly parried his header (71'). Due to offside, the alleged goal would not have been valid in any case. It was better—and fully in compliance with the rules—that: The former Bremen greatest then began dribbling and moved inward parallel to the perimeter of the penalty area as Kleindienst played from the center to the left. He placed the ball in the left corner with his right hand to score 4:2 (76th)!

Werder kept gaining momentum, but the Hanseatic club lacked accuracy in the final third. Bremen, who trailed, had it much harder thanks to Heidenheim's committed defense and a lot of running.

Frank Schmidt also shattered Volker Finke's record and is now the Bundesliga coach with the longest tenure in German professional football (5,844 days), having served as the head coach of FCH for exactly 16 years to the day on Sunday. For the coach, the three points are the ideal present.

With three goals, Eren Dinkci is now Heidenheim's lone leading scorer in the Bundesliga. Not bad for a player who hadn't scored more than one goal in the Bundesliga or Second Bundesliga before. Heindehiem borrowed him, and his brace against Bremen was the first in FCH's brief Bundesliga history.
