As the head coach of Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez has agreed to a new two-year contract.
The former midfielder's contract has been extended to June 20, 2025, with an additional year's option, EuroSport recorded.
The Spanish powerhouses have taken action to ensure the Spaniard's future at the club because his previous contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the current season.
Since his hiring in November 2021, Xavi has brought the team two trophies: the Spanish Super Cup and the La Liga championship, both of which were won last season.
When he took over as manager in place of Ronald Koeman, the 43-year-old was overseeing Qatari club Al-Sadd, which was languishing in ninth place in La Liga. He promptly turned around the team's fortunes, led them to a runner-up finish, and then helped them qualify for the Champions League.
In 96 games as the manager, Xavi has led his team to 60 wins and 17 ties. Twelve youngsters from the junior program have made their debuts under him, while he has seen club veterans Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Gerard Pique leave.
Prior to Saturday's league match against Celta Vigo, Xavi announced his contract renewal in a news conference.
