Bawumia's hit-and-run convoy victim left uncared for with fractured legs and crushed dreams
Mariam Oumar's legs |
The president of a civil society organization known as The New Ghana Social Justice Forum, Mr. Yahaya Alhassan, posted on Facebook that Mariam Oumar, a young woman riding a tricycle in Kumasi, had been run over by Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia's convoy. This information was discovered by ghlense.net.
The tragic occurrence happened in December 2021 when the vice president's convoy was rushing to catch the next flight to Tamale to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco).
Mariam, an aspirant nurse who had completed her senior year of high school and was hoping to enroll in a nursing training program, was regrettably caught up in the accident. She is now left with broken limbs and crushed dreams, and she is left uncared for after numerous attempts to get the office of the vice president's attention proved fruitless.
The New Ghana, in a petition to the president as a result, is requesting full compensation for the victim, along with a full scholarship to begin and complete nursing school.
