Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2024 - Carnegie Mellon University Africa

Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa) and the Mastercard Foundation have joined forces to ignite the aspirations of African graduate students whose potential far surpasses their financial means.

The collaboration empowers these students to earn Master of Science degrees in Information Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Engineering Artificial Intelligence.

Upon graduation, these Scholars become catalysts for change within their communities, fostering profound transformation across the African continent.

CMU-Africa plays an integral role in a global network of 33 Scholars Program partners, dedicated to nurturing Africa's emerging leaders. In 2016, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program was introduced at CMU-Africa, offering substantial financial, social, and academic support to exceptional students who lack the means to fund their education. 

With a belief that education acts as a catalyst for both social and economic transformation, the program aims to cultivate visionary leaders, encouraging them to actively contribute to their societies.

Requirements for Mastercard Foundation/CMU-Africa Scholars Program Qualification:

Scholars must have demonstrated academic excellence, a commitment to community improvement, and the potential to be inspirational role models and leaders.

Important Application Dates and Requirements:

- October 1: All program applications open.

- December 15: Early admission deadline.

- January 15: Final application deadline.

- January-April: Applications are reviewed.

- April-May: Admissions decisions are shared.

- July-August: New Student Foundation Program.

- September: The semester begins.

Applicants must provide essential documents like unofficial transcripts, essays, CVs, and recommendations.
