The Mastercard Foundation's AfOx Scholarship program empowers passionate, locally rooted, and globally-minded African youth to pursue graduate studies at the University of Oxford.

This scholarship covers a comprehensive one-year taught Master's program at Oxford, focusing on equipping scholars with relevant technical, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills while connecting them with world-leading resources in their respective fields.
Key components of the scholarship program include robust support and preparation for students to embark on their academic journey, a strong emphasis on life skills beyond academia, and the establishment of a lifelong alumni network.
Each scholar will benefit from top-notch training in specific disciplines crucial for addressing pressing issues, such as food systems, health sciences, sustainable water and energy systems, governance and public policy, and entrepreneurship, among others.
These programs will revolve around four AfOx themes aligned with Africa's Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals: Healthy People, Integrated Societies, Green Futures, and Innovation for Prosperity.

Benefits of Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholarships:
This fully-funded scholarship is available to Master's students, covering tuition fees and living expenses for international students.
The scholarship also provides logistical support, including an economy return flight, visa and Immigration Health Surcharge fees, a settling allowance, and access to a Thrive Fund for emergencies.
The first year entails a rigorous academic Master's program at Oxford, along with a Leadership and Impact Program designed to foster the development of collaborative leadership skills essential for addressing complex social and environmental challenges.
After completing their Master's program, scholars will be supported in undertaking 4-6 months of placements in leading Africa-based organizations during their Ubuntu Period of Service.
Scholars will work on initiatives in Africa while receiving mentorship from prominent Africa-based academics and practitioners, helping them build impactful careers on the continent.
Scholars will benefit from a customized Leadership and Impact Program delivered in partnership with the Skoll Centre for Social Enterprise, as well as tailored academic and social support throughout their studies.
Beyond their academic pursuits, scholars will join the AfOx Alumni Network, enabling them to continue drawing from and contributing to the community of African scholars affiliated with the University of Oxford. I
n addition to peer support from fellow scholars, they will have access to mentorship and career support from AfOx Research and Innovation Fellows and the broader AfOx network of research leaders and entrepreneurs.
Requirements for Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholarships Qualification:
The Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholarship is open to students from all African countries who wish to pursue graduate studies at the University of Oxford.
It is available to all students with African nationality and residence who have received a conditional offer from the University.
The scholarship places particular emphasis on historically underrepresented groups, including but not limited to female scholars, individuals from refugee and displaced backgrounds, and disabled scholars.
