The Princeton University 2023 Fung Global Fellows Program for the academic year 2024-25 focuses on the theme of "Colonial Residues."

Today, colonialism is often cited as a root cause of global inequality or even celebrated nostalgically in some contexts.

Colonialism's impacts continue to affect "new" and "old" states, leaving visible and measurable traces that influence political regimes, socioeconomic well-being, storytelling, celebrations of achievements, resource utilization, and environmental effects.

Even when not immediately apparent, colonial residues are arguably as pervasive as microplastics, permeating air, water, and earth.

We invite scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds in the humanities and social sciences to expand our understanding of this phenomenon, spanning regions and time periods worldwide.

Our aim is to bring together an exceptional group of international scholars to explore today's colonial residues beyond the traditional colony-metropole binary, investigating how they can be apprehended and whether scalable solutions for our common future may be found.
