African Development Bank 2024 Internship Program
With 81 member states, including 54 in Africa (Regional Member Countries), the Bank's development agenda centers on providing financial and technical support for transformative projects that aim to significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
In alignment with the Ten-Year Strategy (2023 – 2032) and the High 5s, the Bank prioritizes five major areas: energy, agro-business, industrialization, integration, and enhancing the quality of life for Africa's people.
The Internship program is a crucial component of the Talent Management Framework, supporting the Bank's pursuit of its strategic objectives.
Objectives:
The overarching objectives of the program are to:
- Provide students with a valuable opportunity to gain professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.
- Create a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment needs.
However, applicants should not anticipate immediate employment with the Bank as a result of this internship.

The Bank's primary mission is to drive sustainable economic development and social progress in its regional member countries (RMCs), contributing to poverty reduction.
Benefits of African Development Bank Internship Program – Session I:
Terms and Conditions
- Internships are granted for a period of no less than three (3) months and no more than six (6) months. Each candidate is authorized for a single internship.
- Selected interns will undertake their internships either remotely or on-site, depending on their respective hiring units' requirements.
Remote interns are expected to have access to a personal computer, a reliable internet connection, and a conducive environment for uninterrupted remote work.
- On-site interns are responsible for their air travel to and from the Bank's location, as well as their living expenses. The Bank will provide reasonable assistance in obtaining entry and residence visas.
- Eligible interns will receive medical insurance coverage paid for by the Bank during the internship period.
- Eligible interns will also receive a monthly stipend.
Requirements for African Development Bank Internship Program – Session I Qualification:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must have reached the age of majority in their country of nationality or origin and be no more than thirty (30) years old at the start of the internship program.
- Must be currently enrolled in a master's level degree program at a recognized public or private educational institution of higher learning.
- The candidate can apply for an internship within one (1) year of obtaining such a degree.
- Nationals of African Development Bank member countries are eligible.
- Must provide a letter from their school confirming their enrollment or a copy of the aforementioned degree.
- Applicants must be fluent in at least one of the Bank's two working languages (English or French).
- Proficiency in using the Bank's standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is required, with knowledge of SAP considered a plus.
