At Euro 2020, Harry Kane and his teammates from England came agonizingly close to ending their country's long trophy drought when they were defeated by Italy on penalties. Kane is once again dreaming of leading the Three Lions to victory on home soil now that the UK and Ireland have been confirmed as the hosts of Euro 2028. The 30-year-old also stated that he hoped to play "at least" until he was in his late thirties.
As he revealed his goals to play into his late thirties, Harry Kane said that leading England to victory at Euro 2028 would be a "dream come true."
It has been announced that the UK and Ireland will host the European Championship in less than five years, giving the Three Lions another opportunity to win a championship at home.
When England fell to Italy in the penalty shootout in the Wembley final of Euro 2020, they came agonizingly close to breaking their long trophy drought.
By the time Euro 2028 rolls around, Kane, who will be 34, acknowledges that England has unresolved business in a home tournament, Eurosport wrote.
“We were so close to doing something really magical in the last Euros,” he said. “That’s football, it didn’t end the way we wanted it to, but for sure, there will be a bit between our teeth.
“Not just in Germany next summer but being at home, playing games at Wembley, will bring back memories of the 2021 Euros.
“We will have to wait and see. To win a tournament would be special but to win it in your home country would be a dream come true.”
