It's a "completely new level.", Tuchel on Manuel Neuer's recovery

Three hundred and twenty-four days after his skiing accident, on Saturday at home against SV Darmstadt 98, Manuel Neuer will return to FC Bayern Munich. It had been suggested that the record champions would return to their goal; what was far more unexpected, though, were the remarks made by coach Thomas Tuchel, who saw "a completely new level in terms of goalkeeping" during training with Neuer.

Thomas Tuchel exclaimed,  "a great story—This is a league of its own." The coach made it quite evident in the press conference prior to the home game against Darmstadt (which takes place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on the live ticker) how pleased he was to have Manuel Neuer back.

The 37-year-old is "not tense at all," with the main emotion being "the joy of what he has achieved."

Neuer himself spoke shortly after Tuchel's declaration. In a video posted on the team's website, the 37-year-old stated, "I'm really looking forward to my comeback." "Being on the pitch with your team" is "the best thing." However, Neuer also acknowledged that throughout his entire recuperation, there were "a few setbacks."

“Still, as a patient or as an athlete you don’t want to admit it and you always try to be stronger than nature,” said Neuer.
