To ensure that every talented student can become a part of their academic community, Radboud University offers a selection of full scholarships, particularly for students from non-EU/EEA countries who may face financial constraints in paying the institutional tuition fees.

The scholarship encompasses not only the tuition fee but also includes coverage for visa, residence permit, health insurance, and liability insurance during your stay in the Netherlands, which is provided through Aon Student Insurance. It's important to note that if you are chosen as a scholarship recipient and are admitted to a two-year Master's program, you must successfully complete all your courses in the first year to qualify for the grant in the second year.

The Radboud Encouragement Scholarship cannot be combined with a Fulbright-Radboud Scholarship or NL Scholarship. 

While you are allowed to apply for multiple scholarships, only one scholarship will be granted. Specifically, you can apply for either the Radboud Encouragement Scholarship or the partial Radboud Scholarship Programme, but not both.

Radboud University Masters Scholarship Benefits

The Radboud Encouragement Scholarship is open to candidates from non-EU/EEA countries who are applying for one of the English-taught Master's programs. 

This scholarship not only covers the full tuition fee but also provides living costs amounting to €11,520 (as defined by the IND, the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service, for the year 2023-2024) for the entire duration of the Master's program.

Requirements for Radboud University Masters Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible for a Radboud Encouragement Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

- Possess a non-EU/non-EEA passport.

- Be ineligible for the lower EEA tuition fee for other reasons.

- Lack sufficient funds or access to grants or loans to finance your studies at Radboud University.

- Hold (or will obtain) a Bachelor's degree earned outside the Netherlands, with no degrees achieved in the Netherlands and no prior education received in the Netherlands (exchange programs excluded if they are part of the Bachelor's degree earned outside the Netherlands).

- Meet the English language proficiency requirements for the chosen Master's program.

- Gain full admission to the English-taught Master's program starting on September 1, 2024, as indicated in the official letter of admission.

- Be able to fulfill the visa requirements for the Netherlands.

- Be enrolled at Radboud University as a full-time student for the academic year and Master's program for which the scholarship is awarded.

Selection for the scholarship will be based on the following criteria:

- Academic Excellence, including outstanding study results in your current field of study, e.g., grades, test scores, publications.

- Relevance of your previous degree to the Master's program.

- Ranking of the university where you obtained your previous degree(s).

- Ambition, with regard to the quality and relevance of your two motivation letters (one for the Master's program and one for the scholarship), promising achievements, performances, and work in the relevant field of study, as well as life experience and/or extracurricular activities like internships or volunteering.

- References, the quality of the recommendations in two reference letters, with academic references being preferred (please refer to the provided reference guidelines).

- Motivation, which must be a distinct letter from the one already uploaded during your Master's program application. 

It should clarify why you require the scholarship to attend Radboud University and should adhere to the required format (downloadable on the website).

- All students who apply for the Radboud Encouragement Scholarship will be individually assessed by the selection committee of the faculty to which they have applied. 

Faculty selection may be based on academic qualifications and other criteria, such as interviews for some study programs, as applicable.

How to Apply for Radboud University Full Scholarship

You can apply by indicating your intention to apply for a Radboud Encouragement Scholarship during your application for Master's program admission in the OSIRIS Application system. 

Subsequently, you will be asked to upload two reference letters and a curriculum vitae. You may use the same reference letters and CV if you have already uploaded them for your Master's program application. 

Additionally, you will need to submit a scholarship motivation letter.

It is crucial to remember that applying for the Radboud Encouragement Scholarship does not exempt applicants from the obligation to pay the handling fee for their Master's program application. 

The handling fee will be refunded once you are enrolled at Radboud University.
