Sylvia's Skills Fair Empowers 200 Beneficiaries with Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition
On September 30th, 2023, Sylvia's Skills Fair hosted an impactful event aimed at empowering entrepreneurship through skills acquisition. The program was held at the GNAT Hall in Ho Municipal and was attended by approximately 200 beneficiaries.
The program offered practical training, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to start and operate successful businesses. Attendees were divided into three groups: 70 beneficiaries learned wig making and frontal installation, 82 learned make-up artistry, and 48 learned bead-making. Additionally, all participants received training in liquid soap making.
The training was facilitated by four volunteer educators: Miss Priscilla Nyamadi, Miss Delight Foli, Miss Estalia Darkah and Miss Florence Dede Asare. They provided their services free of charge.
Attendees also enjoyed a lecture on entrepreneurship by Mr. Saviour Amakpah (Administrator at Royal Hospital) and Dr. Stanley Glatey (Lecturer in Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the Ho Technical University). Royal Hospital provided free health screenings during the program, with the support of Mr. Saviour Amakpah
The event was sponsored by individuals and organizations who believe in making a positive impact on society, including Hon. Edem Kofi Kpotosu, Hon. Isaac Kotobisa, Navian Enterprise, Dzialets Ltd, and Victor Electronics.
Sylvia Afi Sowatey organized the program as a birthday present with the aim of creating entrepreneurship opportunities through skills acquisition. The program's success led to the founding of the NAAKING Impact Foundation, which will carry the torch into other communities, reaching a larger number of beneficiaries and helping to reduce unemployment rates.
Overall, Sylvia's Skills Fair took a significant step towards empowering entrepreneurship through skills acquisition, and the success of the event will undoubtedly inspire more individuals and organizations to support this worthy cause.
