Empowering Nigerian Women: FMEnv/UNIDO Kpabep Scholarship Program
In a joint initiative by the Federal Ministry of Environment, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the Charity KPABEP Scholarship program has been launched, focusing on female engineers and technicians in Nigeria.
This initiative is an integral part of Nigeria's Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) Stage III Project, targeting the phased-out reduction of 17.13 Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) tonnes of HCFC-22.
About the Federal Ministry of Environment

Aim and Benefits of FMEnv/UNIDO Scholarship Program
The Charity Kpabep Scholarships offer a range of benefits to empower female technicians and engineers in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) manufacturing sector in Nigeria. These include:
- A one-time award of up to $4,000, paid in tranches, contingent on the successful completion of RAC training and internship.
- Possible training on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
- A potential 1 – 3 months internship with an RAC-focused company.
- Free collegiate membership with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
- Access to mentors in the engineering field.

The scholarship program encompasses a variety of courses, primarily focusing on:
- Engineering
- Technical Studies
Requirements for FMEnv UNIDO Kpabep Scholarship 2023
To be eligible for the FMEnv/UNIDO Scholarship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Identify as a woman.
- Be a Nigerian citizen.
- Be below 40 years old at the time of application.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university, polytechnic, or post-secondary institution in Nigeria.
- Enrolled in a FULL-TIME Certificate, Diploma, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree program in Engineering sciences and Technology, or related fields.
- Within the final two years of study.
- No minimum GPA requirement, but candidates must maintain a good academic record.
- Demonstrate a record of leadership and engagement in extracurricular activities.
- Commit to attending all scholarship engagement events, workshops, and training.
- Commit to completing an internship in a relevant company within the scholarship period.
- Commit to writing quarterly progress reports and an internship report.

- Application closes: 31st December 2023
- Reviews and shortlisting: January 2024
- Deadline for submission of reference letters: 28th February 2024
