Nelfund Support: 60 Student Loan FAQs (NELfund)

As Nelfund continues to support students in their educational journey, we understand that there may be many questions surrounding the loan process. Below, we will address some of the most frequently asked questions we receive, providing clarity on your concerns. If you’re facing issues with your loan application, verification, or disbursement, this blog post is for you.

1. My loan application is showing verified, but my tuition fee is yet to be paid.

There are two stages in the loan scheme before disbursement: first, the verification and then the approval. So if your application status is showing "Verified," it means you still have to wait for the approval.

2. I was approved for the loan in August but still haven't received any funding. When will payment for Batch 2 start?

Payments for Batch 2 are typically scheduled according to the funding cycle of Nelfund. If you have been approved but haven't received your disbursement, rest assured that payments are in progress, and you should receive yours soon.

3. How long will students take to pay back their loans? What happens to students who fall ill and cannot complete the session?

Repayment periods are generally based on the terms agreed upon at the time of loan approval. If a student faces medical issues and cannot complete the academic session, there may be a possibility for deferment. It's best to contact your institution’s Nelfund office to discuss options in such cases.

4. Why can’t I apply for two loans in a session?

Nelfund allows one loan per academic session to ensure that funds are distributed fairly across all students. If you’re trying to apply for a second loan, it’s likely you’ve already applied for the current session, and therefore, cannot apply again until the next session.

5. How can I get the Nelfund loan?

To apply for a Nelfund loan, you must meet the eligibility criteria set by Nelfund. This includes having the necessary documents and fulfilling application requirements. Visit Nelfund’s Website to start your application.

6. Why is my educational information showing 'missing records'?

If your educational records are showing as missing, it could be due to incomplete or incorrect data entered during the application process. Double-check your application details and contact your school’s ICT for assistance.

7. I am verified but still haven't received approval. Will this affect my loan disbursement?

If your loan is showing as verified but not yet approved, the approval process may still be underway. Once approved, the disbursement will follow.

8. How can I generate my receipts as a second batch beneficiary?

You can generate your receipts by logging into your Nelfund portal. If you're a second batch beneficiary, your receipts should be available once your loan has been processed and approved. If you're unable to access them, contact your school for further guidance.

9. I paid my school fees, and later Nelfund paid for me. Can I get my money refunded?

If Nelfund has paid your tuition fees after you already made payment, you're eligible for a refund. The surplus funds should be processed by your school’s finance office.
