“You can’t tell me to resign” – Chairman Wontumi to critics

Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), popularly referred to as Chairman Wontumi, has responded to his critics who are demanding his resignation as the NPP Regional Chairman of Ashanti.

Chairman Wontumi vowed to resign from his position as regional chairman prior to the general election this year if he fails to gain all 47 parliamentary seats for the NPP in the Ashanti region.

The NPP won 42 of 47 seats at the end of the election and people are calling on the regional president to fulfill his promise.

Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), said on his radio stations that he would not acknowledge what they were saying.

“I’m not going to resign, you can’t tell me to resign, and I’m going to stay in the post.”

It was after Chairman Wontumi was asked to resign over his broken pledge by a party that many say were NDC members.
