Fire guts carpentry shop at Madina Social Welfare

 A well-furnished carpentry shop called the “Prosper Carpentry shop” has been burnt down into ashes at Madina social welfare around 10:30 PM on Wednesday, 3rd February 2021.

The fire guts into the carpentry shop and transferred to a school called, Little Angels that shares a wall with the shop and other fashion designing shops on the same stretch. Monies, books, computers, sewing machines, clothes and various items were consumed by the inferno.

Speaking in an interview with Kingdom News, Elvis Kumah Sampson, some of the eyes witnesses, the fire started on one of the electrical machines in the carpentry shop and later escalade. They added that they called on the fire service branch in the Madina municipality but unfortunately, before their arrival, the entire carpentry shop has already burnt down into ashes.

The Divisional Operation Officer of the Madina Branch of the Ghana National Fire service, DOO 3 Abdulai Salia disclosed to that investigations and ongoing to fish out the cause of the inferno. He thanked the Ghana National Fire Service Branch in Adenta, Legon and Ministries for coming over to support them to quench the fire.

Aftermath of the fire incident, the owner of the carpentry shop, Mr. Wise Gidi Glintin, and the other shop owners disclosed to Kingdom News that a lot of carpentry machines, sewing machines and others have been destroyed by the fire.

They added that the cost of the destroyed items and the monies burnt will amount to about 4 to 5billion Cedis, as they appeal to government through NADMO to come to their aid.
