Ghana with nearly a full house for AFCON as Thomas Partey and five other players join to raise the numbers of players in camp to 20

 Ghana now has nearly a full house for camping in Doha, Qatar as the team prepares for the 2021 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be played in Cameroon.

The Black Stars opened camp in Doha on Saturday, December 25, 2021 for the tournament scheduled for Sunday, January 9 to Sunday, February 6, 2022.

The latest players to join the camp are skipper Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Jojo Wollacott, Baba Iddrisu and Daniel Amartey. 

This now raises the number of players in camp to 20. Other players in camp already include Richard Attah, Lawrence Ati Zigi, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Mubarak Wakaso, David Abagna, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Maxwell Abbey Quaye, Jonathan Mensah, Joseph Painstil, Benjamin Tetteh, Richmond Boakye Yiadom, Edmund Addo and Samuel Owusu.

Baba Rahman, Andy Yiadom, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Khalid Abdul Mumin and Philemon Baffour are expected to report tonight.

Despite Ajax’s reluctancy to release Mohammed Kudus due to lack of match fitness, the midfielder is expected to report to camp before the team departs to Cameroon on Friday.

Alexander Djiku and Daniel Kofi Kyereh, who reported to camp on the first day but departed to their various clubs few days ago are expected to return tonight as the team intensify preparations for the AFCON.

The Black Stars will play a friendly International against African Champions Algeria on Wednesday, January 05, 2022 at the Education City stadium in Doha to wrap up preparations ahead of the tournament. 

The team will depart Doha for Yaoundé on Friday, January 7, 2022 to take on the rest of Africa at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.

Ghana will kick start the tournament against giants Morocco on Monday, January 10 before taking on Gabon and Comoros in the other Group C matches.
