EXIT ON A HIGHWAY

There come a heat wave,

then rain,

There come a heat wave

Then rain,

At the gallows spot

Comes a great biker

Who dives into the great axles

Of metals and tyres.

There come a heat wave

Then rain

There come a heat wave

Then rain

A socialite in the making,

Biking in the midst of

A cheering crowd,

Oo, hail the street master!

An inventor of a unique bike

Sounding so sour and bile,

Took quietude to the next gallows

Led by a poisonous energy.

A precious life has been snatched

Under a pressure point

skull left in pieces here and there

Guarded by two black tyres,

There come a heat wave

Then a rain

There come a heat wave

Then a rain,

Brilliant young man has descended,

Along uncharged gallows spot

Steered by our own comfort

That kept swallowing us.

The heat wave has gone

Taking along what it gathered,

Now is for the rain

To take its share.

There come a heat wave

Then a rain

There come a heat wave

Then a rain

There come a great biker of the road

Claimed by the road as a Soldier

And mourned by the road as Mubash

In a soulful moment.

Such are our roads!

These are our roads!

Claiming what isn’t sown by it

Without permission.

By Al LATIF Kambo-Naa

In memory of Mubash (Aka Street Soldier) whose sudden demise happened at the Wa airport corner through an accident on 8th August 2021.
