Arsenal triumphs over PSV

Bukayo Saka had a standout performance as Arsenal, thanks to a beautiful 4-0 home win against PSV in Group B, earned a spectacular return to the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners made the most of a momentous night with a remarkable performance, especially in the first half when the visitors couldn’t keep up with them. The Gunners were participating in Europe’s top competition for the first time in six years.

When Saka tucked in a rebound on the eighth minute, he registered his first ever appearance in the Champions League and got things going.

After 12 minutes, the England winger changed roles by passing to Leandro Trossard, who finished off a good counterattack with a lethal low effort.

Seven minutes before halftime, Gabriel Jesus brought down a cross from Trossard’s left side and fizzed a beautiful strike into the far corner, all but securing the victory.

For the majority of the second period, Mikel Arteta’s team relaxed into a comfortable rhythm, but 20 minutes from time, the excellent Martin Odegaard added a fourth goal when he blazed a low, 20-yard shot beyond Walter Benitez’s reach.

As a consequence of Sevilla and Lens’ draw in Spain, the Gunners now hold the group lead with a point each. PSV rank last.

Now in a positive frame of mind, Arsenal will face Tottenham at home in the North London derby on Sunday. On Matchday 2 of the Champions League in October, the Arsenal travel to Lens. PSV amuses Sevilla.
